Andrew Skurka on March 21, 2014 at ten:07 pm at the least one aspect of the bag would need to get breathable, or else the bag would resist lofting soon after becoming compressed, or compressing just after getting lofted (mainly because a non-breathable material won't allow air to go through it, so generally air stream will be limited to the seams).
